National Assisted Living Week® (NALW) is an annual observed tradition that honors the residents and caregivers who are at the heart of assisted living communities. Established in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), this week-long celebration highlights the invaluable role these communities play in enhancing the lives of older adults across the nation.
Theme of National Assisted Living Week 2024
This year, NALW runs from September 8-14, with the theme “Inspiring Generations.” The theme underscores the deep, intergenerational connections fostered within assisted living communities. It reminds us of the powerful legacy older generations leave through their wisdom, stories, and experiences, which continue to inspire and guide younger ones.
Importance of Recognition
This week also serves as a moment to recognize and appreciate the caregivers whose dedication ensures the well-being and happiness of residents. The acknowledgment they receive during NALW boosts morale and strengthens the sense of community within these vital facilities. For residents, it’s a heartwarming opportunity to feel valued and connected, knowing their contributions and life stories are celebrated.
As the August 8 deadline approaches, Healthcare Academy can support organizations in conducting comprehensive facility assessments by providing staff with the necessary training and education.
With Healthcare Academy, organizations can develop and implement a tailored learning plan if the facility assessment identifies staff knowledge or skill gaps. This ensures that staff members are well-equipped to meet the diverse needs of the resident population.
