ROP Learning (Requirements of Participation)

The RoP Learning team is comprised of clinical and educational professionals who are seasoned experts in developing online training for the long-term care industry.

Easy-to-use Web-based RoP Learning

The RoP Learning Curriculum consists of 20 lessons that are based on the CMS Requirements of Participation for skilled nursing facilities.  Each lesson breaks the State Operations Manual into manageable learning bytes to provide all staff with job-specific training.

Who Can Use ROP Learning

Here’s how each member of your facility’s care team can utilize the RoP Learning system to stay in compliance with the RoP requirements that are most relevant to their specific role in your facility:

Can use RoP Learning to update their skills on critical new front-line RoP patient requirements for dementia treatment, infection control, and antibiotic stewardship; administrative nursing staff will also benefit from accessing additional RoP Learning modules to understand new RoP patient rights, discharge planning, and elder abuse prevention requirements.

Can use the ROP Learning system to gain the critical knowledge required to comply with important new CMS resident admission, transfer, and discharge rights, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) requirements, as well as gaining knowledge from many other ROP Learning modules necessary for SNF administrators and their staffs to effectively manage their facility’s compliance under the new RoP.

Will benefit from RoP Learning to stay compliant with important new specialized rehab service, patient-centered care, and discharge planning requirements.

Can use RoP Learning to stay current on new RoP food and nutrition requirements.

Can utilize several RoP Learning modules to stay compliant with new RoP resident rights, behavioral health, and quality of life requirements.

Can access specialized building specification and environmental requirement topics in RoP Learning to keep your facility compliant with these new requirements.

Enable Your Staff

In addition to its extensive revisions, the ROP also features major changes which now require your facility’s front-line care and administration teams to prove competency in these specific areas:

Greater emphasis on establishing and implementing formalized admission and discharge policies to ensure safe patient transfer or discharge, including specific discharge planning requirements and focus on discharge goals and resident participation.

New, formalized requirements for developing comprehensive patient care plans, including procedures for resident and family representative participation.

Nursing staff (nurses and nurse aides) must possess “appropriate competencies and skills sets” to meet the highest possible patient care needs, based on an individual assessment of each resident and their plan of care.

Recognition of residents’ rights to voice grievances without discrimination or reprisal, including establishment of formalized resident complaint and resolution policy and procedures.

Increased requirements and standards for comprehensive assessment and appropriate treatment levels for patients with dementia, mental, or psycho-social conditions, including formalized dementia management training for new and existing staff.

Developing formalized and specific infection prevention and control programs, with annual reviews and updates, including development of antibiotic stewardship programs and appointment of an infection control preventionist as a new member of the patient care team.

New facility construction or renovations require bathroom facilities for each resident room, occupancy of no more than two residents to a room, and other new construction requirements.

New formalized training programs required for all new, existing, contract, and volunteer staff in areas including dementia management training, resident abuse prevention, and care for cognitively impaired patients.
